The combination of the First Quantum and Inmet assets has created one of the world’s leading copper producers with a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.

With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments on critical jobs.
  • Conduct Workplace Inspections.
  • Audit the Supervisor’s Log Books, Pre-Start Checklists, and Safe Work Permits.
  • Log in Incidents and Hazards.
  • Ensure Site Specific Inductions are conducted as per Procedure.
  • Monitor Planned Maintenance and breakdown works to ensure compliance with workplace standards.
  • Attend Toolbox and Compliance Safety meetings.
  • Monitor OH&S compliance in Engineering works in line with ISO 45001:2018
  • Assist in OH&S Management System Internal / External audit programmes.
  • Assist in carrying out incident / accident investigations.
  • Submitting daily, weekly, monthly reports.
  • Conduct safety surveillance on “THINK” programmes.
  • Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor

Qualifications

  • Holder of a Grade 12 School Certificate
  • Certificate / Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management from recognised institution
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 will have an added advantage
  • Engineering background will have an added advantage
  • Computer Literate (Microsoft suite)
  • Holder of valid driver licence

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience within the mining industry
