JCHX Mining Construction (Z) Limited is a well established mining contracting Company in Zambia and is currently looking for highly – motivated and qualified individuals for the position of:-

ASSISTANT HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.

Job Purpose

To effectively manage human resources functions for JCHX Mining Construction in order to promote employee productivity and enhance industrial harmony in line with goals and objectives of the Company at project level.

The duties will include the following:

  • Assist management in the interpretation of labour statutes.
  • Assist management in planning for labour
  • Superintend over the administration of discipline and promoting harmonious industrial/employee relations.
  • Review in conjunction with the HR Manager the standard operating procedures for the efficient and effective administration of the Human Resources Department.
  • Interpreting Company policies and procedures to employees.
  • Engaging the Unions in matters relating to employees.
  • Preparation of Contract letters for new and old employees.
  • Scrutinize all payroll inputs before being processed by Accounts department.
  • Assisting management in recruitment and selection process.
  • Organize and participate in the Collecting Bargaining process.
  • Attending to employees general welfare.
  • Coordinate all departmental activities at the project.
  • Managing Human Resources team at Project level.
  • Ensuring that Human Resources team fulfills its role within the organization on a daily basis.
  • Support performance management development for staff and identify the requirements needed to ensure the organization can deliver a high quality service to the main company.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Superiors.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • At least 5 years  Human Resources experience of which 3 should be at Supervisory level.
  • Extensive experience in the conduct of IR/ER at management level particularly in the mining sector environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in recruitment, Human Resource Information Systems and creating of policies and procedures.
  • Experience in managing HR projects e.g implementation of performance management systems, designing and creating of Employee Handbook, managing staff satisfaction surveys for the company or project.
  • Familiarity with the application of employment law in the workplace.
  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM).
