Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is one of the largest copper producers in Zambia. It operates underground and open pit mines as well as metallurgical plants with operations located at Nchanga, Konkola, Nkana and Nampundwe. KCM’s operations indude a state-of-the-art smelter, open pit and underground mines and a refinery. To support this vision KCM will be recruiting qualified and experienced individuals for the following positions at Konkola Mine in Chililabombwe:

MACHINIST x 6

Job Purpose

Operate a variety of machine tools to manufacture and produce precision, engineering components and parts for end users.

Job Accountabilities

• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, qishapers, etc.
• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machining works.
• Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools safely and many specialized and/or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to machine products, determine product dimensions and tolerances.

Requirements

• Craft certificate in machining from a reputable institution
• At least 3 years’ post qualification hands on expenence in busy and equipped mechanical engineering workshop
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments
• Innovative and able to work independently
• Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
