Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is one of the largest copper producers in Zambia. It operates underground and open pit mines as well as metallurgical plants with operations located at Nchanga, Konkola, Nkana and Nampundwe.

KCM’s operations include a state-of-the-art smelter, open pit and underground mines and a refinery. To support this vision KCM will be recruiting qualified and experienced individuals for the following positions at Nchanga in Chingola.

METALLURGIST X5

Job Purpose

Managing the technical aspects of the metallurgical processes and equipment requirements of the operations.

Job Accountabilities:

• Plan, direct and co-ordinate investigations into technical and operational problems, monitor operations and stock levels of consumables to improve plant efficiency and ensure metallurgical and operational data is regularly recorded
• Plan and direct all metallurgical investigations into technical and operational problems to enhance plant recovery and product quality
• Monitor and review stock levels and consumption rates of reagents and other key consumables to ensure their continued availability and effcient utilization to improve plant performance and minimize operational costs
• Monitor and analyze plant technical data and report to provide solution to operating staff to achieve production targets
• Direct motivate and develop subordinates to ensure their proficiency and provide for future staff requirements

Requirements:

• Degree in Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering or related field
• At least 3 years work experience in mining industry
• Computer literate
• Innovative and able to work independently
• Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
