Cashier Job Description

  • Greet customers entering establishments and provide good customer service.

  • Receive payment by cash and disburse toilet paper to each customer

  • Tabulate bills using cash registers.

  • Issue receipts and/or change due to customers.

  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.

  • Resolve customer complaints.

  • Compute and record totals of transactions.

  • Pay company bills for issues that arise at site by cash, as authorized by your supervisor

  • Supervise cleaners and ensure that toilets and surrounds are always kept clean

  • Ensure that the cleaning schedule is followed

  • Compile and maintain non-monetary reports and records

    • Reports include;

    • Daily cash-up report
    • Stock sheet report
    • Maintenance report
    • Cleaning schedule

    Skills required

    • Basic Math and Written English skills
    • Able to work with a till machine / tech savvy
    • Excellent interpersonal communication
    • Ability to effectively manage your time and prioritize tasks
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision
    • Must have high self-esteem and be honest
    • Should be able to resolve customer disputes in a patient manner
    • Ability to speak local languages is advantageous
    • Report writing
