Description

Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometres. The mine is a modern, world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.

Lubambe Copper Mines is owned by EMR Capital of Australia (80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).

The Mine is currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45, 000 tonnes of contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The Plant infrastructure consists of a Concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground infrastructure. The Concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, flotation and filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of 2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be sold to smelter in Zambia.

To support this vision, Lubambe Copper Mine seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the  following positions:

DATA ANALYTIC AND EXPERDITOR   

This position reports to the Supply Chain Analyst & Relationship Officer.

Purpose of the Position 

  • Uses analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, report and enhance supply chain processes and expedites and gives report on outstanding orders. Responsible for assembling data, analysing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendations which support SCM planning and operations.
  • Builds and manages relationships with companies that supply products and services to the organization. Ensures vendors meet or exceed contractual obligations in delivering quality products and services on time by expediting orders.

Key Performance Areas / Indicators (KPA/Is):

  • Collecting and analysing supply chain data.
  • Extract and analyse system data in order to identify and recommend improvements to supply chain metrics and performance standards using research, supplier relationships, industry knowledge and best practices in order to secure benefits for the Company, suppliers and/or customers (e.g. cost savings, new technologies and innovations, operating efficiencies).
  • Creates processes and methods to gather supply chain data.
  • Analyse data to identify problematic areas and suggest improvements.
  • Forecasting of inventory and recommendation on min max inventory levels.
  • Recommending improvements to boost performance and reduce costs.
  • Coordinating with other professionals to implement changes and new systems.
  • Develop, implement, track, and improve key performance metrics consistent with business objectives.
  • Develops and maintains successful relationships with Vendors and gives reports on vendor management.
  • Acts as the central contact for all internal and external contact for all inquiries by and about Vendors, i.e. contact details, location etc.
  • Coordinate all vendor management tasks inclusive of working with external vendors and internal employees.
  • Ensure enterprise-wide needs for due diligence, risk assessment and continuing vendor monitoring.
  • Ensure to track, measure, report and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Credit limit applications for major accounts
  • Manages the investigation and resolution of Vendor issues and risks and maintains communications with all affected parties until resolved.
  • Identify improvement areas internally as well as perform closely with all internal stakeholders to prepare solutions.
  • Participate to formulate workflow processes, methods and policies for applying vendors.
  • Leads the development and implementation of strategy plans for increasing Vendor participation and alignment
  • Proactively identify Vendors that may have difficulty delivering and work with those Vendors to resolve issues
  • Partner with industry peers and groups to continuously benchmark and share ideas on future direction of sourcing Vendors, and strategies to ensure good vendor management
  • Expedites orders by contacting suppliers on regular basis through phone calls and /or email
  • Provides updates to superiors within the department and end users on the order progress on regular basis
  • Closes out orders in the agreed time frame
  • Contests and disputes late deliveries and if necessary, after consultation with superiors and end users cancels such orders.
  • Establishes and maintains a cordial relationship with internal customers
  • Responds to queries from internal customers regarding outstanding quotes, requisitions and orders.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Business Administration/ Engineering Degree (with Supply certification)/Professional Diploma in Procurement & Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) with a valid practicing licence.
  • Familiarity with supply chain processes (e.g. inventory planning, warehousing management, vendor evaluation etc).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, relational databases and ERP systems.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Report writing and charting skills.
  • 3+ years proven track record of related experience in similar field, Policy & Procedure writing, tracking of budget expenses, and Senior level reporting
  • Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Ability to respond consistently with a high degree of initiative to resolve issues or complex problems that may arise.
  • Ability to maintain positive company image and brand.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication, listening and presentation skills.
  • Efficient organisation and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills; proficiency with MS Office suite and other supply chain-related software.
  • Strong leadership capabilities
