Description

Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometres. The mine is a modern, world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.

Lubambe Copper Mine is owned by EMR Capital of Australia (80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).

The Mine is currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45, 000 tonnes of contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The Plant infrastructure consists of a Concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground infrastructure. The Concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, flotation and filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of 2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be sold to smelters in Zambia.

Lubambe Copper Mine seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the following position:

RISK AND COMPLIANCE SUPERINTENDENT x 2

This position reports to the Manager Risk, Security and Compliance.

CORE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Responsible for advising Management of any potential risks that may affect the reputation, safety, financial sustainability and existence of the organisation. Through the guidance of the Manager Risk, Security and Compliance responsible to provide an assessment of the risk management policies to avoid threats, reduce or transfer risks and minimise the effects of those which are essentially unavoidable.

Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):

  • Plans, designs and implements an overall risk management process for the organisation
  • Assist departments in conducting risk assessments, which involves analysing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimate the risks affecting the organisation.
  • Execute compliance reviews as directed by the Manager Risk, Security and Compliance
  • Recommend to HODs on controls to ensure the organisation achieves its objectives.
  • Act as a second line of defence to give senior management assurance that controls are working effectively
  • Ensure management and employees comply rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct audit of policy and compliance of standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors including other stakeholders.
  • Provide support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma with relevant experience in either Mining or Safety Health and Environment or Occupational, Health & Safety  or courses in risk management with a bias to mining.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Risk and /or Compliance Analyst/Auditor level at a reputable mining company
  • Possess technical acumen
  • Problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Analytical skills and a good eye for detail
  • Planning and organisation skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Possess knowledge of organisation culture and structure
  • Ability to build on the vision of the business organisation
  • Ability to design, carry out analysis, and model business processes
  • Skill for risk mitigation simulation
  • Specialisation in Business continuity, Operational risk
  • Mining regulatory environment
  • Advise HODs on risk mitigation
