Description

The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company Limited (LWSC), a provider of quality water and sanitation services to customers in Lusaka Province, is seeking to recruit a dynamic, energetic and performance driven person to fill the position of Manager Information Communication and Technology.

This position reports to the Managing Director and is based at Head Office in Lusaka.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The position is responsible for the provision of leadership in the management of Information Communication Technology for LWSC and coordinates the development and implementation of a sound information technology platform in support of LWSC operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the provision of services to its customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Participates in the development of the corporate strategic plan and aligns ICT function with organisational goals and objectives, and ensures effective cost management within and outside the department of the use of ICT systems.
  • Leads the planning and development of budget for the ICT department by coordinating with all divisions to establish companywide ICT needs.
  • Increases operational efficiency by streamlining LWSC business processes through the successful implementation of an appropriate integrated business management system.
  • Formulates, interprets and ensures complete implementation of ICT policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Works with Business Units to reengineer business processes in order to ensure that they are integrated into the information systems throughout the organisation to reduce the cost of doing business.
  • Oversees implementation and monitoring of ICT strategies that ensures effective and efficient operations across the Company and ensures timely provision of ICT services to all functions of the Company key areas.
  • Improves network security and cyber security within the company by installation of intrusion prevention systems and intrusion detection systems, and ensuring network security and protection of data from internal and external attacks.
  • Coordinates and ensures that Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system is operational and continuously available.
  • Ensures the existence of an off-site IT business continuity site that could immediately be operational in case of failure of the main site at Head Office.
  • Processes data for use by the Finance and Commercial Departments in the production of monthly and year-end reports, including assisting in the actual production of the reports.
  • Increases productivity and a reformed corporate culture by enforcing the usage of the integrated management systems, or available systems, in all departments.
  • Improves information management through implementation of a document management system and its peripherals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
  • Eight (8) years post qualification and demonstrated 5 years working experience in a service industry at a senior management level
  • An appropriate  Master’s degree shall be an added advantage
  • Networking and software development skills are compulsory
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrable experience in ICT Project Management implementation
  • Good understanding of business strategy and re-engineering of business processes
  • Must be registered with an appropriate professional body
