Madison Finance Company Limited (MFinance) which is part of the LSA Group of companies is a rapidly growing Micro-Finance Institution in Zambia with focus on growing the Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) as well as proving affordable housing finance in Zambia. The Company has a branch network spread throughout the major cities in the Country with the Head Office based in Lusaka.

The primary responsibility of the HEAD – MSME is to drive the development of MFinance’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise lending operation. The scope of this function includes, amongst others, developing high performance MSME team; driving new product development process, initiating and managing marketing activities and managing profitability to spur business growth. In addition, this function drives compliance to Policies and Procedures to mitigate risk while maintaining excellent customer service.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND PERSONAL TRAITS

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, Accounting or any business related courses;
  • At least 5 years managerial experience in business development and implementation in a Banking and/or MSME oriented financial institution;
  • Solid, proven leadership skills;
  • Conversant with the current trends in the MSME industry;
  • Expert in doing market intelligence;
  • Good network in the business community;
  • Excellent communication at all levels,

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HEAD SME WILL BE:

  • Prepare annual budget and work plans aligned with overall targets and strategies;
  • Communicate and discuss annual business targets to foster buy-in at the branch level;
  • Manage staffing, workload and productivity of all staff in the department;
  • Prepare in depth analysis of market and competition, as needed;
  • Develop annual marketing action plans and strategies to meet targets and review strategies as often as required,
  • Perform daily assessment of the evolution of the loan portfolio and provide solution/s to potential impediments to growth and quality;
  • Assess the financial performance of all products and services;
  • Recommend modifications in the products and services, as needed;
  • Daily review loan workflow in the system (when available) to assess the number of loan applications received across branches and assess the loan turnaround time.
  • Liaise with the head of credit in establishing and maintaining efficiency and control in executing pre-approval and post-approval credit processes;
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to region head/s on the best practices in evaluating market potentials, identifying opportunities and supervising the business performance of the branches in their area;
  • Evaluate the performance of region head/s;
  • Determine skills development trainings needed by branch heads and other staffs of the department;
  • Review and sign-off all reports (internal and external) prior to distribution.
