  • Mansa District Women Development Association (DWDA) is a non- governmental, non-political, non- religious community based organization which was established in 1999 and registered in 2000 with registrar of societies. Mansa DWDA’s overall goal is to improve the lives of rural communities through women empowerment. This is achieved through providing information and services on legal education, land rights, women and child rights, child protection, income generating activities, building local democracy, entrepreneurship and increasing community awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention. The organisation also provides necessary care and support for orphans and vulnerable children in a bid to reduce gender inequality. Mansa DWDA is a membership organisation operating in seven districts namely, Mansa, Chembe, Mwense, Kawambwa, Nchelenge, Chienge and Chembe. The organisation has a total membership of 2,752 of which 701 are male and 2051 are female. Mansa DWDA is a membership organization governed by a District Board representing. The Board is made up of 21 Area association representatives, which forms the district council that works with the Secretariat in managing the association day to day activities.

Mansa District Women Development Association in partnership with Plan International Zambia is implementing the “Enhancing the voices of civil society to End Child Marriage in Eastern and Southern Africa”. The project will be implemented in Luapula province of Zambia. As part of implementing this project, Mansa DWDA is looking for experienced, innovative, motivated, self-starter individuals to fill the positions of Community Development Facilitator, Project Coordinator- and Project Accountant. This is a three year project which started in December 2018 with funding support from Plan International Germany National Office.

Project Coordinator – Enhancing the voices of civil society to End Child Marriage in Eastern and Southern Africa

1 Position at Mansa DWDA

Position Description

The incumbent has the overall responsibility to provide leadership in the management and overall delivery of the Enhancing the Voices of Civil Society to End Child Marriage in Eastern and Southern Africa Project. She/he will lead the project team in planning, implementation, and reporting of the project. She/he is responsible for the timely delivery of the project; with highest technical quality according to the objectives of the project and to the satisfaction of project stakeholders and donors. The position reports to the Program Manager but will work closely with Plan International Project Coordinator.  The Project Coordinator’s main role is to manage the project in terms of planning, scheduling, implementation and monitoring of the project.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Effectively managing, planning and implementation of the Enhancing the Voices of Civil Society to End Child Marriage in Eastern and Southern Africa Project
  • Participating in the project research, assessments or evaluations undertaken and sharing lessons learned and best practices  for sharing and scaling up of the project
  • Manage project resources efficiently and effectively in accordance with Mansa DWDA policies and guidelines
  • Ensuring project budget and expenditure is tracked and reported.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of outputs
  • Facilitating strategic linkages and collaborations with other departments inside and outside Mansa DWDA, Local Authorities, the young persons and other partners
  • Prepare and share quality project reports as per donor requirements and the project monitoring & evaluation plan
  • Development of annual and quarterly implementation plans and budgets.
  • Lead and manage performance of project staff.

Candidates will need to demonstrate possession of:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Development Studies/Social Sciences/Education or related discipline
  • At least 3 years’ experience in managing projects with strong technical expertise in Child Protection and Social Movement Building.
  • Knowledge of Child Marriage issues will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of environment and current effective practice on Child Marriage
  • Experience and knowledge in community based programming.
