Description

This position will primarily work as part of the Zamphia 2020 Field Team and provide
leadership to field data collection teams and oversight that will ensure;

  • Collection of accurate, high quality data
  • Integrity of the assessment and data,
  • Collection of data within specified timelines
  • Maintaining high levels of professionalism and confidentiality

Primary Responsibilities;

  • Motivate and encourage survey teams and provide constructive feedback and oversight
  • Ensure community entry procedures are completed. Lead the team in making courtesy calls and visits to provincial, confirm arrangements with facilities and District Health Directors prior to visits
  • Liaise with the Community Mobilization Coordinator regarding community mobilization and community responses
  • Ensure the team is adequately equipped and be responsible for equipment checks, ensuring data quality, managing and documenting anticipated and unanticipated difficulties.
  • Assign tasks, oversee and supervise the day-to-day operations of the field team.
  • Supervise and guide work and workflow in the household
  • Ensure that the testing algorithm is adhered to, and quality control (QC) is performed prior to testing participant specimen
  • Troubleshoot any problems with data collection equipment (tablets)
  • Ensure completion of tasks by performing daily reviews of all data collected by the team and convene daily team meetings to ensure camaraderie, communication and quality control
  • Oversee packaging, consolidation and documentation of blood specimens for transport to satellite labs.
  • Track team progress, schedule return visits, ensure efficient completion of assigned households
  • Ensure the safety of participants
  • Ensure that the confidentiality of the survey participants is protected.
  • Ensure all adverse events are properly documented and reported to the survey supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Provide logistical guidance in field for data collection team, including routing planning
  • Monitor the data collection process to ensure field manual protocols and procedures are being followed, provide guidance to team workers
  • Ensure a sufficient quantity and availability of blank questionnaires
  • Review of all completed interviews to ensure clarity and accuracy
  • Ensure all completed interviews have been properly completed and submitted to the cloud server and that all samples have been collected and properly labeled and stored
  • Participate actively in data collection alongside the field team workers
  • Keep daily summary record regarding activities of the day

Qualification:

  • Successful candidates must have a minimum of a Diploma in a relevant field
  • Must have prior experience supervising field teams.
  • Must have prior experience in large-scale, household-based surveys involving sensitive questions.
  • Previous experience in HIV/AIDS programs/survey will be an added advantage
  • Previous experience with collecting data using tablets or smartphones
  • Must have sound knowledge of IT and be able to troubleshoot equipment while in the field
  • Knowledge of and practical experience in HIV community-based research and ethical requirements.
  • A sound understanding of HIV/AIDS surveys in resource constrained settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership, design, implementation, management and tracking/monitoring of HIV surveys
  • Must have a good disciplinary record
