Description

The Project Officer will report directly to the Project Director and reporting responsibilities to the Director of Operations in managing and monitoring the project implementation plan. The Project Officer will apply project management experience to support the implementation of high quality, cost-effective interventions for HIV-focused population surveys. The Project Officer will keep track of all activities using the approved workplan, provide project updates and at-risk targets, and bridge technical and administrative activities when necessary. Project Officer reports to Project Director and works closely with Senior Technical Advisor. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of versatility, leadership, ability to multi-task and integrity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support to project director and technical team, including monitoring performance based on workplan, communicating and assisting with field-office requests
  • Responsible for interacting with project management team to ensure that all tasks, requests and activities from funders, stakeholders and others entities are implemented
  • Responsible for liaising with Director of Operations for reviewing and determining causes for variances to the budget
  • Working with the Project director and/or technical team will be responsible for initiating and following up tasks as directed
  • Responsible for acting as a bridge and communication channel between the project director and the project management office on all issues related to ZAMPHIA 2020
  • Attend meetings with PD and be able to capture all meeting notes succinctly and track action points from such meetings, providing input to work planning performing other operational tasks
  • Review and provide comments on project technical work and project reports
    Be able to coordinate and schedule meetings for the PD and technical team and notify the PD and team of meetings which they may need to attend
  • Be able to prepare simple presentations and hold briefs for certain meetings in the PD’s absence
  • Identify issues or potential risks and make informed decisions on how to address the issues, communicating, when appropriate, with the Director and Senior Technical Advisor
  • Appropriately consult with support divisions on home-office and field-office matters to help make informed decisions
  • Following up on requests and tasks that are directly related to field implementation
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

 

Qualifications:

  • MBBS or other relevant Bachelor’s degree  with project management work experience required
  • Minimum 3 years of project management or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
  • Strong MS Office, word processing abilities, and attention to detail
  • Ability to use Outlook and other office essentials will be a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision on work progress, and make significant contribution to end results
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, must be technologically savvy
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Background in epidemiology and/or health preferred
  • Be able to coordinate electronic meetings like skype and/or zoom highly desirable
