The National Legal Aid Clinic for Women (NLACW) is a project of the Women’s Rights Committee of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) which was established in 1990 by the Women’s Rights Committee of LAZ, to provide affordable legal representation to women and children from marginalized social sectors.  The overall objective of the NLACW is to empower women by facilitating their access to legal rights by way of legal representation, counselling, legal and human rights education as a distinct but integral part of the women’s movement. The NLACW has the following vacancy that needs to be filled.

Position: Assistant Accountant

Location: Lusaka

Contract type: Fixed Term

Contract Period: 15 months      

Closing date: 20th November, 2019

Reporting to: The Programme Accountant

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Partly qualified CA Zambia/ACCA/CIMA
  • Computer literacy, Sage Evolution with Voucher Management & Fixed Assets Modules
  • ZICA Membership a must
  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent- an added advantage
  • 4 years hands on experience in the field of Accounting and Finance especially multi donor related

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Perform daily accounting duties relating to payables and receivables.
  • Prepare reconciliations such as bank, fuel and Clients.
  • Process and capture payments, including statutory payments.
  • Assist with preparing expenditure analysis for grants.
  • Perform reconciliations of payables and receivables accounts as required.
  • Check the GL allocations to ensure that the split per the payment requisition is correct.
  • Assist check compliance of payment requisitions against contracts.
  • Capture debit and/ or credit card payments & petty cash into Sage Pastel.
  • Assist with the annual audit preparation.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register-FAR and preparing journals as required.
