Nkana Water and Sewerage Company is a Commercial Water Utility Company providing quality Water and Sanitation Services to its customers in Kitwe, Kalulushi and Chambishi. In its quest to improve service delivery, the Company seeks to employ suitable, highly motivated and goal oriented professionals to fill the following vacancies

SUPERINTENDENT – PLANNING (X1)

Job Purpose

To co-ordinate all sectional maintenance activities, material sourcing and ensure related documentation and report processing and filing.

Job Accountabilities

  • To supervise the compilation and updating of schedules for weekly/monthly/yearly planned maintenance for all subsections of the maintenance section.

  • To supervise the compilation and updating of weekly/monthly/yearly breakdown and corrective maintenance schedules for all subsections of Maintenance Section.

  • To schedule maintenance jobs based on priority classification and material and other resources availability.

  • To ensure hard copies of Planned Maintenance (PMs) Checklists, Work Orders, Job

    Cards and Breakdown Report sheets are readily available for all subsections of the

    Maintenance section.

  • To requested from the Stores and make available in the section stationery and other widely used documents and books

  • To ensure all signed PM checklists, breakdown reports, maintenance work orders, Job Cards, plant/equipment performance reports and related documentation are received and nicely filed.

  • To coordinate all section weekly Planning meetings and any other internal meetings relating to operation of section.

  • To apportion and delegate work, and effectively supervise staff under Planning Office.

  • To follow up raised PRs for various sectional requirements and keep track of the order generation process.

  • To compile and constantly update Sectional Employees Register, Organization Chart and Yearly Leave Schedule for Maintenance Section.

  • To submit to Planning Engineer on yearly basis a detailed list of PPE requirements for all staff in the section and ensure right PPE is issued for all line of work.

  • To keep updated records of all hand tools and equipment being used in the sections and enforce quarterly audits.

  • To keep updated equipment register and specifications of all equipment and facilities.

  • To compile and submit to Planning Engineer all budget submissions of Maintenance sections and ensure cost effective work practices are enforced.

  • To coordinate, monitor and manage the use of materials drawn from the stores for use in planned maintenance, breakdown and repair works.

  • To receive recommendations from other sectional superintendents with regard to training needs in lacking areas and submit to Planning Engineer.

    • Qualifications and Experience

    • Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least six (6) credits
    • Diploma in Plant Fitting/Electrical/Mechanical/Fabrication
    • Diploma in Production Management will be an added advantage
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a Production Plant
    • Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia

    • Must have Strong Supervisory Skills
    • Proven track record of leading a team and team player with strong influencing skills.
    • Computer literate in MS word, MS-excel, MS-Project, MS-PowerPoint, Maintenance Management System, EDAMS
    • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
