Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.

We are looking for experienced, vibrant and self-starters to fill the following Positions:

MY SAY Advocacy Officer – Lusaka (2 Years)

Position Description:

The MY SAY Advocacy Officer will oversee project activities at all levels with all stakeholders involved. He/she ensures that partners and field project staff involved in the implementation of the project in the all countries understand and are supported in the application of the MY SAY Consultation process and submit good quality reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all project activities at the different levels (community, national and sub-regional ) are coherent and well-coordinated and implemented according to the timeframe
  • Facilitation of MY SAY Country consultations and development of guidelines and templates as well as briefing packages for countries involved
  • Drafting communication with country offices and partners
  • Planning and development of concept notes for high level events
  • Provision of administrative support to travel arrangements
  • Responsible for organization of briefings and travel for youth as well as their chaperons
  • Liaison with country office to ensure coordinated information sharing
  • Support development of project influencing,  project implementation, and visibility plans
  • Develop Youth involvement strategy and guidelines
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of master’s degree in social science, women’s studies or development studies
  • A minimum of 7 years work experience in gender equality / child rights programming
  • Experience working with various stakeholders, including government as well as UN Agencies
  • Proven track record of report writing and development of publications
  • Knowledge and experience working with social media and different communication channels
  • Proven experience within influencing / advocacy work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
