Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and capacity building programmes focus primarily on Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Economic Security and Youth Empowerment, including Child Protection and Participation. Plan International Zambia has programme areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.

We are looking for experienced, vibrant and self-starters to fill the following Emergency Response Positions in Central Province:

WAREHOUSE OFFICER- FOOD CRISIS – Temporal Position (Central Province –X1)

Position Description:

Perform a varied range of tasks to deliver an efficient, cost effective and quality service to the Plan International Zambia Emergency Response to the hunger crisis.

Provide warehouse management support required for the implementation of the program in and around Central Province, particularly in the stores at the Chisamba/Chibombo warehouse.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the overall needs and timelines of project demands, including key activities that require focused warehouse planning as communicated by the programming teams.
  • To be responsible for providing information and knowledge and promoting Plan International’s principles and ways of working, code of conduct, gender mainstreaming and make sure its demonstrated or promoted by all associated with stores.
  • Ensure that the warehouse function is fully and strategically integrated in development and implementation of humanitarian programs/projects
  • Oversee management of the warehouse (s) and of decentralized/prepositioned stocks held with partners & vendors.
  • Ensure that the warehouse(s) provide(s) an efficient storage and supply of equipment to Plan International programmes and advise the logistics manager and Emergency Response Manager on levels of stock and condition of goods through careful monitoring and supervision.
  • Obtain information from procurement & supply chain manager and liaise closely with other team members throughout the assessment, planning, design and implementation stages of all activities. On field offices requests (items, time of delivery etc.)
  • Be responsible for the passage of all goods through the warehouse system and the correct, safe receipt, efficient storage, packing and dispatch of all items.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate in Stores Management and any other relevant qualification
  • 3 years warehouse /stores experience
  • Computer literate
  • Comfortable with high levels of ambiguity and able to take decisions independently in fluid context
  • Experience with marginalized communities desired
  • Commitment to Plan International values and Child Safeguarding
