Position : Child Protection Manager

Duty Station : Lusaka Office

Role purpose:  The Project Manager leads and ensures implementation of the Child Protection Programs focusing on marginalized children, Children Without Appropriate Care (CWAC) including Children On Move projects). The role will integrate child protection, with all the other thematic areas – child poverty, child rights governance, health and education to ensure children and families benefit from strengthened care services.
She /he will work with partners to support case management, family tracing and reunification, the provision of alternative and child protection interventions for children.

The incumbent will be reporting to Deputy Country Director – Programs

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Program Management

  • Ensure all program activities have been implemented timely and red flags identified are timely escalated and resolved .
  • As budget holder of the program, develop and manage the program budget in line with SCI and donor policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to developing project proposals, to finance the program.
    Lead and coordinate the reporting to the donors
  • Review and systematic follow-up to partner reports (Financial and Narrative); Contribute to the long-term strategic planning of the program.

Partner Management

  • Manage and monitor partner relationship with the partner
  • Lead in design and update detailed implementation plan for the program with input from partners.
  • Engage other staff to support partner in capacity strengthening, delivery and reporting
  • Support the Technical Support Specialist –CP to develop and define new partnerships in CP and in particular CWAC programs
  • Support the awards and partnership manager conduct partnership organization assessment for the Child protection program
  • With support from the TS, the Awards and Partnership Manage, Finance and other support functions lead in the development and design of capacity building plans for each partner

Coordination

  • Ensure SC actively coordinates and contributes to community-based and national relevant thematic interventions;
  • Analyze the outcomes of the program and changes in the external operating environment and incorporate findings to the ongoing development of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Social Science
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience; in Child  protection, CWAC, vulnerable families
  • Knowledge of human rights, preferably of children’s rights;
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advocacy skills within national setting;
  • Advanced program management skills to design and deliver programs with partners and/or through direct assistance;
  • Understanding of and experience in working with civil society organizations;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English with good analytical, report and proposal writing skills;
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and representational skills;

Child Safeguarding:

Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.
