Description

Sekelela aims to improve quality of life for babies and mothers through the use of effective eMTCT services in Ng’ombe community.

The Program Officer will work with field staff, provide operational and logistical support services required for community program activities.
Reports to the Program Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Plan the program

  • Manage operational support and logistics to meet identified project requirements.
  • Manage and implement community activities/projects which include but not limited to nutrition support, health education meetings, HIV testing, community follow-ups and data entry.
  • Work with the Programs Manager to formulate and implement data entry tools.

Organize the program

  • Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of Sekelela.
  • Ensure that all appointments and home visitations are conducted and recorded.

Staff program

  • Engage caregivers for appropriate program activities using established volunteer management practices.
  • Ensure that all community caregivers receive an appropriate orientation about the organization, new policies and the program activities.

Lead the program

  • Supervise community caregivers/ volunteers by providing direction, input and feedback.
  • Get buy-in from potential and existing clients plus other stakeholders and ensure their involvement in the activities
  • Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure activity/client review meetings are held very month.

Control the program

  • Responsible for requesting and receipt of program activities.
  • Key contact person with the community.
  • Ensure professional standards of work are maintained and tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Account for all expenses made in line with the allocated funds for activities and approved budget.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with community caregivers/volunteers to ensure project success.
  • Monitor the program activities on a regular basis and provide feedback to the Program Manager.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Diploma preferably in: Project Management, Public Health, Development Studies, Social Work or any other Social Science a degree will be an added advantage
  • More than two years of experience in logistics management, fieldwork, HIV/AIDS Programs, especially eMTCT and youth programs.
  • Demonstrate hands on computer skills and experience in MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Excel or any other database.
