EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

In its quest to improve service delivery, the Southern Water and Sanitation Company Limited (SWSC), provider of water supply and sanitation services in the Southern Province of Zambia, seeks to fill the following vacant positions with good team players, dynamic, innovative, self motivated and suitably qualified and experienced Zambians.

HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate who will be reporting to the Managing Director, shall, among others, perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • To develop, implement and review Human Resources strategies and policies that contribute to the achievement of the Company’s strategic objectives.

  • Develop and maintain a sound manpower policies and procedures to enable the company to acquire, develop and utilize personnel of the right caliber.

  • Providing advice to the Company’s management and employees on the application of the human resource and industrial relations policies and procedures in order to maintain a good discipline, high productivity and industrial harmony.

  • To formulate, implement and review employee’s conditions of service and salaries arising from the Collective Bargaining process.

  • To establish and administer an effective Performance Management System, which focuses on increasing the effectiveness of SWSC, by improving, recognising and rewarding good employee performance.

  • To foster and maintain effective liaison with employees and the union in order to promote good industrial harmony.

  • Contribute to the achievement of SWSC’s business objectives by planning and ensuring efficient and effective delivery and evaluation of training and development programmes and provide advice on training and development aimed at improving the competence of company staff.

  • To coordinate the effective provision of security services in order to ensure the safety of Company Property.

  • Responsible for recruitment and selection of staff, to ensure that the company attracts personnel with skill levels and experience necessary to achieve the objectives.

  • Supervises, trains, disciplines, appraises and motives employees in order to achieve/exceed corporate goals.

  • Implements HIV/AIDS programmes and polices aimed at mitigating the impact of the epidemic in the company.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.

  • Decree in Human Resource Management.

  • Full member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management.

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant industrial experience of which 3 years should be at management level.

  • Experience in the water and sanitation sector will be an added advantage.

  • At least 25-45 years of age.
  • Key Skills

    • Effective Communicator, facilitator, problem solver and Computer Literate- excel, power point and be able to use Navision.

  • Excellent knowledge of Zambian Labour Laws and statutes

  • Negotiating skills with Trade Unions

  • Strong leadership skills and able to work in a team

  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Strategic, business and human resource planning skills

  • ILO conventions ratified by the Zambian Government
