Description

MAIN PURPOSE:
To support in the overall delivery of the Company’s business objectives, by providing guidance, advice and support in order to meet the commitments in the Company HSEQ Policy Statement and to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards and legislative requirements. The position shall have a primary focus in supporting the Company operational contracts in Angola in addition to the corporate HSEQ function.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
The HSE Advisor is responsible for:
• Development and maintenance of the Company HSEQ Management System to facilitate delivery of the requirements of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
• In conjunction with the HSEQ Manager, develop and implement an HSE internal compliance and assurance audit programme
• Attending industry/client arranged meetings and seminars in relation to aspects of HSE
• Liaising with Operational Managers to develop and implement HSE Plans
• Supporting operations management - schedule site visits to land and offshore locations for the purpose of carrying out HSE audits and inspections
• Contributing to the development of HSEQMS interface documents
• Participating in incident investigation as a root cause analysis specialist
• Developing sound working relationships and co-operate with clients and others such as legislators and registration bodies during audits, verifications and assessments
• Conducting reviews and amendments of processes to ensure legal and other compliance in respect of all aspects of HSE management
• Assisting operations teams in conducting risk/COSHH/manual handling assessments
• Assisting in the development of HSE processes and supporting guidance
• Providing coaching and advice to operational managers and supervisors in respect of managing the HSE aspects of their day-to-day undertakings
• Contribute to the induction process - delivery of HSEQ elements
• Developing and delivering HSE awareness training sessions

HSEQ RESPONSIBILITIES:
It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of the Companies Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.

The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises

The above responsibilities are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the incumbent may be called upon to carry out such other appropriate alternative or additional duties as may be required which are within their capability and competence.

• Proven track record in a similar role
• NEBOSH General Certificate or Health & Safety NVQ
• OHSAS 18001 internal auditor
• ISO14001 internal auditor
• Kelvin TOPSET Lead Investigator
• SYPOL COSHH assessor
• Able to deliver training on a range of HSE topics
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office
