Job Title: Systems Administrator
Reports to: Head of IT Services
A reputable company is looking to employ a suitably qualified Systems Administrator – IT on a permanent and pensionable basis. The position is Lusaka based.
The main purpose of this position is to ensure effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure.
Additionally, the systems Administrator must ensure high availability of all critical systems and network infrastructure by use of monitoring/support tools and best practices while ensuring a high level of security and performance controls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Systems Administrator’s role will require the applicant to be able to undertake the following duties: Undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network usage; Install and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements; Administer the pension administration system Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls Manage Exchange server, domain and Active Directory Create, change, and delete user accounts per request. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups; Ensure systems and users adhere to company policies including DRP and BCP plans; Work with 3rd party service providers, testing and troubleshooting systems, network and internet problems; Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities; Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning; Must work independently and in a group to manage full scope of responsibilities with minimal supervision. Any other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline
- Professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) a plus
- MSSQL Server database administration skills a plus.
- CCNA certification added advantage
- Familiarity with various operating systems;
- Active Directory & Exchange experience
- Strong commitment to customer service
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Three to five years work experience in system administration
