TechnoServe is looking for experienced Team Lead candidates for an anticipated donor-funded project focusing on support to agribusinesses in Zambia. The program will support smallholder farmers by identifying effective intermediaries, and award grants to improve adherence to food quality standards, post-harvest handling and management, thereby integrating them into efficient supply chains.

The Team leader will be responsible for the following activities:
  • Provide dynamic and strategic leadership to for the program being responsible for overall program management and meeting the targets and objectives set forth by the project’s logframe
  • Oversee all aspects of program implementation including overall management of the program, fund management and coordination of local grant recipients, finances and operational procedures
  • Determine the strategic direction of the program
  • Donor progress reporting and communication
  • Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to government counterparts, beneficiaries, and market actors
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree or PhD in agronomy, economics, agricultural development, business, international development or similar
  • At least 10-15 years’ senior international management experience in the agricultural sector from projects, private sector, government, and/or civil society in Africa, preferably including Zambia
  • Comprehensive experience from managing large donor funded projects, programs, budgets, including interventions funded by the European Union, DFID, or USAID
  • Background in agricultural lending, fund management, familiarity with forms of alternative bank collateral
  • In depth knowledge of agricultural development using market-based approaches in an African context
  • Excellent track record in management of multiple stakeholder relationships in a political and multicultural context
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Citizens of the EU or African countries preferred
  • Fluency in English required
