Our Client a leading Book Store is Seeking to hire an Assistant Manager-Retail to join their team in Ndola.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retailing:

a) Responsible for all Retail aspects of your location.

b) Planning, organizing and controlling multiple responsibilities and resource to achieve business objectives of the location.

c) Ensure that the GP’s at the location are maintained as per budgets. Any deviation to be reported to the Senior Manager Retail

d) Look at avenues for increasing the business through organic growth and new business developments within your business environment.

e) Ensure adherence to the strategic direction in cost management, goal setting, employee relations, customer satisfaction, and quality systems deployment.

f) Ensure sales are at optimum as per budgets.

g) Ensure day to day operations, shop management, and improvements.

h) Ensure floor and space planning and management

i) Ensure merchandising and the display is properly done

j) Conduct in-store product promotion periodically and provide feedback to your Reporting Manager

k) Ensure the marketing activities are carried out within the stipulated time frame at locations that have been identified and the same is within the parameters laid down by the brand manual and the budgeted marketing plans.

l) Shall be responsible to prepare the budgets for your location, as per the provided format, and submitted to the Senior Manager – Retail.

Supply Chain Management:

a) Ensure that all the ordering is done methodically considering the lead times, shelf fill quantities, to effectively manage stocks; and sent across to the Senior Manager – Retail for review and approval.

b) Keep an eye for new releases on a regular basis, and, ensure the same is ordered, following the new listing approval process.

c) Liaison and follow up with the Supply Chain team and local suppliers or all orders placed.

d) Planning the logistics in conjunction with the Senior manager – Retail and the Supply Chain team.

e) Ensure that the due processes of receiving, Goods receipt and follow up on short/damaged/excess is followed as per the laid down policies.

Stock Management:

a) Ensure that the optimum stock levels are maintained at the location in relation to the shelf fill ratio by volume and value.

b) Ensure that a periodical review of the prices at the locations is done with international, regional and local prices. Ensure corrective measures are taken with due approvals to optimize the pricing, in conjunction with your Reporting Manager.

c) Ensure that the shrinkages at the locations are monitored and keep the same under control.

d) Initiate the elimination of dead or slow moving stock. All the proposals shall be sent across to the Senior Manager – Retail for due approvals from the CEO.

e) The controlled turnaround of stock resulting in increased cash flow.

f) Ensure that local purchases are aligned and there is better credit terms negotiated with suppliers are regulated.

General Administration, Human Resource Management & MIS:

a) Ensure proper coordination among various departments and promote an environment of sharing and learning

b) Anticipating and recognizing problems, assessing alternatives and recommending solutions, which aim to provide integrated solutions.

c) Ensure that all policies laid down by the Organisation are followed correctly and the business is in line with the laid down regulations of the Organisation and the governing/regulating bodies in the country/region.

d) Ensure that any new policies implemented by the Organisation are filtered down to the locations, and a monitoring mechanism is put in place.

e) Conduct an Operational Performance Review of your location and prepare all the MIS reports as may be required by the Senior Manager – Reatil, for their monthly/quarterly/half year/annual review and presentatios.

f) Responsible for people development within your branch and defining manpower strength for your outlet

g) Ensure that all location level recruitments of Operations personnel are processed by you and sent out to senior Manager – Retail for approval.

h) Conduct staff appraisals/reviews periodically, and, ensure adherence to the laid down KPI’s, and, appraise your Reporting Manager of any personnel-related issues, which hampers business.

i) Ensure regular statutory compliance of the company and its various departments.
