Description

The University of North Carolina – Global Projects Zambia (UNC-GPZ) is conducting a study to exhaustively document the course and outcomes of labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period in settings where the occurrence of adverse birth outcomes is high. The ICT Technician is responsible for overseeing the ICT hardware, software, and network connectivity and peripherals for the LABOR study and for ensuring that study data collection tools are functioning properly at all times.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but are not limited to the following):

Study Procedures

  • Maintains functionality of data collection tools for the LABOR study, including internet connectivity and power.
  • Troubleshoots all computer hardware and/or software applications at the LABOR study site for the purpose of ensuring complete data collection.
  • Repairs computers, peripherals, network equipment, software, etc. not requiring specialized computer and electronic repair skills, and in consultation with the Senior Systems Specialist.
  • Maintains IT accountability and maintenance logs as needed.
  • Conducts system inspections on a regular basis.

Communication

  • Communicate with fellow staff members openly and honestly about study progress, issues, and/or problems that may arise.
  • Actively participate in problem solving.
  • Work collegially as part of the study team.
  • Effectively collaborate with UTH staff as necessary.

Training

  • Acquire and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the study protocol.
  • Regularly attend study meetings.
  • Complete all required study training, including routine Human Subject Protection and
  • Good Clinical Practices training.

Other

  • Attend workshops, conferences and other meetings as requested.
  • Attend to any other duties as required to ensure the accurate and confidential collection of participant data.

  • Must have excellent, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work with deadlines and has a positive, sober and mature attitude as a team player
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Programs
  • Able to organize and schedule multiple work-related tasks efficiently

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in a computer studies or data related field with at least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in ICT support functions and adequate knowledge of multiple platforms
