Description

Job Title: District Program Coordinators
Reports to: Provincial Program Coordinator
Duration: 10 months (September 1, 2019 to June 30th, 2020)
Number of vacancies: Three (3)
Workstation : Chingola, Kalulushi and Nakonde Districts

Background: Breakthrough ACTION is a 3-year cooperative agreement funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to lead social and behavior change (SBC) programming around the world. Led in Zambia by the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP), Breakthrough ACTION partners include Save the Children, ideas42, ThinkAction, and Viamo.

The vision of the project is to ignite collective action using next-generation behavior change approaches to empower households and communities to become healthier and more prosperous It is designed to support increased adoption of healthy behaviors related to HIV and AIDS, maternal and child health, family planning, malaria, and nutrition as well as potential investments in economic opportunities and education-related behaviors that collectively contribute to improved outcomes.

Breakthrough ACTION is looking for experienced and motivated professionals to join its team as District Program Coordinators in Chingola, Kalulush and Nakonde.

Job Overview: The District Program Assistant will report to Provincial Program Coordinator and will support work in the assigned district to implement and manage Breakth rough ACTION Zambia activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Based on the priorities of the project’s annual work plan, develop district action Plan
  • Lead process of implementation and scale up of project interventions at district level
  • Spearhead the development, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of community engagement plans and activities in the designated district
  • Represent the project at district-level meetings and forums
  • Coordinate project activities with district level Ministry of Health (MOH) programs and partners
  • Participate in the development, review, pilot testing, implementation, and monitoring of SBC materials, curricula, and training materials
  • Assist in conducting capacity assessments of district partners and design and implement capacity improvement programs
  • Support district teams and community structures to operationalize data collection, analysis, and reporting tools and ensure their participation in the project’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning process
  • Provide regular data collection, reporting, and documentation of project-supported activities in the assigned district
  • Assist in district quarterly review meetings (including data reviews) to share lessons on what is/is not working
  • Conduct field visits to assess progress against the set targets and ensure compliance with technical and operational procedures
  • Assist in preparing project reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degreein a social science/health discipline
  • At least 3 years’ experience in implementing/managing social and behavior change/ community mobilization initiatives
  • Knowledge of health issues including HIV, malaria, family planning, reproductive health, and nutrition a plus
  • Knowledge orgovernment health structure at district and provincial levels
  • Full command over Microsoft Office applications
  • Good writing skills with ability to produce activity reports
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
