Description

Purpose of Position

Provide technical guidance in construction and maintenance projects in line with the organization polices and government engineering regulations, in deepening our commitment to the most vulnerable children in emergencies.

Major Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance for construction works

  • Prepare/ interpret construction/technical documents (building, block and site plans) for constructions works up to required industry and technical standards/quality.
  • Produce/d review bill of quantities (costing), drawings and related requirements for the construction/maintenance works based on the recommended drawings/plans.
  • Provide specifications for all technical works and building related matters to ensure right materials and value for money.

Construction Project Management

  • Conduct regular monitoring of construction sites to ensure they are meeting the standards outlined in the contract.
  • Ensure all construction projects are done within agreed timeframe and the available budget limits.
  • Monitor work of independent contractors as per the contract and work plan.

Documentation and Report Writing

  • Submit report covering key performance and other relevant documentation timely.

External Relations and Liaison

  • Establish, maintain relationships with line ministries, Refugee Officer, and other stakeholders involved in the project.

Qualifications, work experience, skills and knowledge

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Survey or a related field with 3 years of experience in relevant field.

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Survey or a related field with 5 years of experience in relevant field.

  • Computer literate in MS Office package i.e. word and excel, AutoCAD and data analysis software is recommended.

  • Must be paid up member of Engineering institution of Zambia

  • Knowledge of Project Management is added advantage.

  • Knowledge of construction Industry

  • Holder of a valid Driver’s License.

  • Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing essential

  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and functional teams.

  • Knowledge and understanding of World Vision humanitarian /operations would be an added advantage
  • Other competencies required

  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities and willing to attend daily devotions.

  • Demonstrate high-level planning, reporting writing and communication skills.

  • Must have excellent communication, analytical and decision making skills.

  • Ability to manage conflict and negotiation skills.

  • Strong networking, liaison and stakeholder engagement management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity and morals.
  • Work Environment

    • Work environment: Office-based 20% and Field 80%
    • Travel: International as required.
