Job Title: Programmes Officer
Job Grade: Professional Staff
Responsible to: National Coordinator

The programmes Officer is a professional level appointment to provide support in the management and implementation of landscape level research and development projects. The officer will assist the organization in strengthening its mobilization plan and work closely with the National Coordinator as his/her supervisor to support the growth of the Forum in Zambia through building new strategic organizational and corporate partnerships.

Job Overview:

To provide support in the management and implementation of research and development projects of the Forum. To assist in upgrading, re-branding and transformation of the Forum in order to develop the Forum. To specifically develop a robust fundraising strategy, building donor relationships and to support the growth of the Forum in Zambia through building new partnerships and proposal writings.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with the National Coordinator as a Lead in research and development projects.

  • To develop a clear marketing strategy, networking, communication, re-branding the Forum and create communication material- in order to improve the project proposals writing. Sourcing for funding sources and writing their requirements etc.

  • To work closely with the National Coordinator in responding to all possible calls for grants (research/development) the Forum could get access in line with the Forum strategy

  • To update the website with all the current projects and to be doing regular update on Forum website

  • To organize events in order to make the forum known (eg. Related Global events).

  • Assisting the National Coordinator in Coordination/ management of projects- Monitoring, Reporting, etc;

  • To link the Forum to international organisations and organise at least 2 fundraising events each year.

  • To target to bring in at least 2 new long-term projects annually;
  • Qualifications and Experience

    • A degree in Development Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Natural Resources Management, Forestry and any other related field is a pre-requisite.  A master’s degree in a related field will be an added advantage.
    • At least 3 years of work experience in climate change and Natural resources related  research, project management, administration and demonstrated ability to work in a more complex environment;
    • Demonstrated skills in project proposal writing, production of narrative technical and financial concept for possible securing of funding;
    • Demonstrated skills in community mobilization, stakeholder engagement and Networking.
    • Self – motivated and willingness to work with minimal supervision.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Knowledge of Community-Based Natural Resources Management and Integrated Landscape Approach Management.
    • Research capabilities and skills such as desk review of policy documents, site-based review, Performance Critical Analysis, Stakeholder Analysis, Gap Analysis, Report Writing, Qualitative and Quantitative Data Analysis, Statistical Analysis.
    • Conversant with the knowledge facilitating Community Collaborative Platforms/Networks, Organizing Cross-Sectoral workshops.
    • Self-motivated individual able to meet deadlines under pressure.
    • Capable of developing methodologies for Key Informant interviews, Focus Group Discussions and Research Surveys.
    • Sound capabilities in organizing communication, outreach and educational activities at community/landscape  and organizational/national  levels.
    • Advanced PC skills, particularly knowledge of MS Excel, Word, SPSS software
    • Ability to work as a team member and take instructions.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency (spoken and written) in English.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
