Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision in the Finance Division under the Asset & Liability Management Department, to be based at Head Office.

 

ASSET & LIABILITY MANAGEMENT HEAD (X1)

 

JOB PURPOSE

The Asset and Liability Head will be responsible for Capital and Liquidity forecasting, Interest rate risk management and reporting under the supervision and guidance of the Head – Asset and Liability Management.

 

Under the supervision of the Head Asset & Liability Management, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities: –

  • Managing the balance sheet, cash flow, and ensuring provision of funds for the Bank settlements.
  • Identifying potential financial risks for the Bank and ensuring that they do not adversely affect funding.
  • Implementing an assets and liabilities strategy (gapping) that optimizes the Bank’s return in accordance with the ALCO’s guidelines/recommendations.
  • Monitor and manage the Bank’s capital position and ensure that relevant information is compiled on all key capital metrics.
  • Prepare on going assessment of asset and liability mismatch and managing the implementation of required short- and medium-term financing structures.
  • Proactively resolve potential analytical ALM issues with escalation as appropriate.
  • Manage and improve the reporting functional processes, policies and procedures of the Department.
  • Management of the Bank’s interest rate risk, capital planning and Stress testing.
  • Develop net interest income forecasts.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly interest rate risk simulation reports and funds transfer pricing.
  • Develop reports and presentation materials that effectively communicate financial performance, risks and strategy recommendations.
  • Engage and collaborate with the business and other risk owners to provide support for earnings forecasting, interest rate risk analysis, FTP, economic capital, capital planning and liquidity management.
  • Provide internal Management with accurate and timely information for planning and decision making.
  • Consolidate the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Processes (ICAAP) for the Bank.
  • and timely submission.
  • Managing daily cash balances, and surplus cash for other assets e.g. money markets, fixed income.
  • Ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements e.g. reserve requirements.
  • Monitor the Bank’s liquidity position and ensure that relevant information is compiled on all key Assets and liability metrics to assure sound liquidity management.
  • Prepare the ALCO Pack on a monthly basis, consisting of Balance sheet management reports, resulting in deposit growth and increased retention of liquidity.
  • Improve internal controls through improvements in the departmental control environment mechanisms and assessing of key Risk Indicators
  • Prepare all ALM, Liquidity, Capital position and ensure timely submission to all relevant stakeholders
  • Any other responsibilities or tasks as maybe assigned by management.

  • External: Bank of Zambia, Securities and Exchange Commission, ACI
  • Internal: All Divisions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects.
  • Degree in Economics, Business Administration and any Finance related field of study or professional Finance qualification.
  • Minimum Experience: At least seven (7) years in a related role particularly in Treasury
  • Financial reporting and Capital reporting experience with an understanding of both Finance and Risk Management.
  • Experience in Business requirements gathering and Business Case development
  • ACI Certification and SEC registration are mandatory
