Job Description


EDC will develop a number of Interactive Audio Instruction (IAI) programs to support early grade reading and to improve the quality of early education. These interactive audio programs will guide teachers and students through lessons to address specific learning objectives. The USAID Let’s Read Project is a 5-year, $48.9 million project in the five target provinces of Eastern, Muchinga, Southern, Northwestern and Western Zambia that works to improve reading outcomes for approximately 1.4 million children attending pre-primary (kindergarten) through to Grades 3 and provide professional development for teachers to support reading interventions in Zambian public and community schools.


Position Description


The Production Coordinator will be a part of the USAID Let’s Read production team, and will work closely with scriptwriters, actors and musicians and  studio producers to produce Interactive Audio Programming for early education classes. The Production Coordinator organizes, plans and manages the production process and the related personnel responsible for building each IAI program. Initial materials will be developed in English and translated to local languages. Scriptwriters will work with production team members in local language to assure continuity of the IAI program message.  This position reports to the Senior Reading Director. This position is located in Lusaka.


The essential functions of the Production Coordinator include but are not exclusive  of:



  • Able to schedule team members for smooth transitions within the production process

  • Able to meet deadlines

  • Able to support cooperation among team members

  • Able to think creatively around problem solving

  • Assist in the formative evaluation of programs and participate in feedback sessions

  • Develop logistical plans for evaluation and training

  • Maintain records;

  • Perform others duties as assigned


Qualifications


The candidate for the position of Accountant shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:


Education:



  • At least a high school degree, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 1-3 years of relevant experience,

  • Higher education a plus


Skills and Experience:



  • Work timely and effectively to meet deadlines

  • Willing to work extra hours when necessary

  • Ability to self-manage: Coordinator will be creating an organizing framework and set expectations while insuring quality final work.

  • Ability to work collaboratively:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in the production of educational materials, a plus

  • Flexibility, initiative and ability to work with  a team towards common goal is essential;

  • Mastery of basic software competence; Word, Excel



Language:


Fluency in English is required
