The combination of the First Quantum and Inmet assets has created one of the world’s leading copper producers with a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.

With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on the job training on all surface Blast hole Drill rigs and Blasting Training
  • Facilitate off the job classroom Power Point presentations – this includes all compliance/generic courses for all surface blast hole Drill rigs and open cast Blasting Training
  • Conduct theory and practical assessment in accordance with the assessment principles and in accordance with FQML assessment guidelines.
  • Conduct pre-employment assessment in accordance with the company guidelines – Demonstration of prior Learning (DPL) and Recognition of prior Learning (RPL).
  • Coach and mentor operators on the job in order to improve machine operational efficiency and also improve production.
  • Implement Daily/weekly Training assignment schedule as it carries the daily assignment Task for the day.
  •  Apply the Training Nomination, Training systems and permit issuance processes.
  • Assists with development of Training Need Analysis (TNA) and training audits as directed by the Senior Drill&Blast Trainer or the Training coordinator.
  • Assist with development of operator learning materials and documentation (Manuals, PowerPoint and assessment tools) as directed by the Drill&Blast Training coordinator.
  • Safe operation of all blast hole drill rigs under your jurisdiction.
  • Report the daily training activities through the Daily Training Log Book and through the Trainer Daily individual report.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Senior Drill&Blast Trainer or Training coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessing/SAQA certificate or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Computer skills (Word, Excel PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Full Grade Twelve certificate.
  • Must possess a valid Zambian Blasting License.
  • Certification in any surface Blast hole Drill rig Operations.
  • Ability to operate and train on Sandvik Driltech D25KS will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to operate and train on RC Drilling will be an added advantage.
  • First Aid certificate will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • 2 years plus experience working in the open pit as Drill Trainer/Assessor.
  • 2 years plus experience working as a Drill supervisor.
  • 5 years plus experience as an operator on any surface Drill rig.

Knowledge of:

  • General Management procedure (GMP).
  • Scheduling systems using Training calendar.
  • Surface Mobile Equipment Operation.

Skills in:

  • Facilitation, Presentation and caching skills.
  • Drill rig Operation, Training and Assessments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to speak read and write in English.
