The combination of the First Quantum and Inmet assets has created one of the world’s leading copper producers with a geographically diversified portfolio of high-quality operations and development projects in eight countries across five continents.

With a strategic plan to produce more than 1 million tonnes per annum of copper within five years, the Company is poised to become the largest, widely-held pure-play copper producer and one of the top five copper producers in the world.

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the operational integrity of the Concentrator
  • Responsible for the allocation of adequate resources in order to achieve the shift production targets
  • Maintain statutory logbooks
  • Ensure adherence and operate within all safety guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures and Quality control protocols
  • Make adjustments during the shift to ensure product production within specification
  • Train and coach production employees practically
  • Issue all safe work permits for normal work, hot work and entry into specific area of responsibility
  • Plan and organize shift schedules to include work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee leave, overtime, back-up’s for absent employees and shift rotations
  • Utilize plant assets and workforce to maintain production schedule under unforeseen labour shortages, breakdowns and raw material shortages
  • Co-ordinate production start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers
  • Schedule and conduct shift meetings
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area
  • Complete shift paperwork
  • Assist in production as necessary
  • Assume responsibility as Emergency Response Coordinator in emergency situations
  • Liaise and manage service level agreements with contractors in area of responsibility
  • Employ maintenance callout procedures as necessary
  • Ensure that there is a safety representative on every shift

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant plant experience in a Hydromet/HPL or related field
  • Supervisory experience in plant operations.
