JOB DESCRIPTION

One Acre Fund Zambia’s ambitious growth target requires that we change, adapt to new market opportunities, and find new ways of delivering impact to farmers. The mandate of the Scale Innovations team is to develop and test changes to the One Acre Fund program model that allows for the realization of these ambitious goals.

The major Scale Innovations’ project for the Zambia program is the shift of our repayment system from cash to Mobile Money. Given the transaction size of our clients, our field team is put at risk carrying the collected cash on the field. We started the trial in May 2018 and have around 7000 farmers using this system currently. The MM Support Officer will be responsible for supporting the scaling up of Mobile Money to the whole program (15,000 farmers in LR2020).

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Training

Coordinate with Field Operations to plan the training calendar for all mobile money training
Create/Update training materials in readiness for training
Train field directors to prepare them to train their teams
Coordinate with field directors to ensure that all necessary parties receive training
Coordinate with Field Operations to ensure all training materials are ready and sent out in time

Field Presence

Go on the field to conduct surveys/focus groups discussions to collect mobile money related data to fill information gaps and support future expansion plans
Meet with field team and clients to understand operational challenges
Attend client meetings in sites to witness mobile money training and collect feedback on trial efficiency

Communication

Manage communication between field team and mobile money agents to foster coordination, improve float management and report to HQ when delays happen
Troubleshoot low-level malfunctions such as blocked sim cards, and ensure in time issue resolution to reduce delay in operations of the field team. Report challenges to HQ

Miscellaneous

Assist in the creation of other materials needed to support the implementation of the MM project
