Description

Society for Family Health is recruiting for the position of Head, Research Monitoring and Evaluation to be based in Lusaka at our Head Office. The Head, Research Monitoring and Evaluation will be responsible for redesigning and implementation of SFH’s RM & E plan and data collection systems to measure SFH’s overall performance against established goals and objectives. She/he ensure that the organization’s leadership has sufficient data and knows how to utilize the data for decision making and performance improvement.  S/he coordinates the preparation of quarterly reports for SFH and Donors, highlighting best practices and approaches for reaching populations of interest.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Research Monitoring and Evaluation Department
  • Participates on Management Team providing input on decision making regarding operational and program direction
  • Develops data collection policies and practices and monitors uniform data collection compliance and quality across SFH.
  • Consult with other key stakeholders to establish a transparent, reliable and valid RM & E system that can easily be tracked and verified.
  • Conducts research and analysis of issues as requested, including preparation of reports, writes papers and journal publications.
  • Ensure that the RM & E is a cost effective, result oriented that provides Donors and the programme with necessary information to assess progress, effectiveness and outcome of the activities.
  • Develop tools for data collection, design and implement surveys and other data collection task.
  • Document achievements against targets through data monitoring and work with program presentations and publications.
  • Lead implementation of DHIS2 across all projects within SFH
    Use data to systematically and consistently document achievements, success stories and best practices.
  • Supervise RM&E team members to manage production of data to meet all reporting requirements including quarterly and annual reports as appropriate.
  • Build capacity of SFH staff, especially project staff, on the use of data for decision making and performance management.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to programme teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in demography, statistics, social sciences or related field
  • At least 7 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation health and development projects
  • Experience with Donor funded projects
  • Experience in leading a project team in M & E activity and collaborating with technical and other project team members
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse personalities, and the wide variety of professional backgrounds experiences.
  • Experience developing research questions and protocols including implementation and execution of research protocols which includes applying for and obtaining research ethics approval from relevant ethics boards.
  • Strong presentation skills including the ability to present to donors and other key stakeholders
  • Ability to think strategically, remaining focused on goals and objectives
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi task, meet deadlines and be persistent, solve problems as they arise
  • Demonstrated ability in publishing papers
  • Excellent diplomatic, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English a must.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to field operations a must
